Settings & SEO

One Settings page controls the SEO Friendly URLs master switch + format, Disqus, and the translation languages.

The Settings page

Opened via the left menu (Settings) in the admin area. It contains:

SettingTypeDescription
SEO Friendly URLs Master checkbox Master switch — enables/disables SEO URLs entirely. Hidden until checked reveals the format option below it.
URL Format Radio (2) Only shown when SEO is enabled: with .html or without .html.
Disqus Username Text Your Disqus shortname, used by comment boxes on internal/published pages.
Available Languages Multi-select Which client languages are offered for Internal Page translations.
Upgrade note — in v6 this was a single “SEO Friendly URLs” checkbox. In v7 it is a master switch + format. On upgrade the module reads the legacy on value and normalises it to html — so existing v6 behaviour is preserved.

SEO Friendly URLs — two formats

When enabled, the module serves pages at pretty URLs and keeps the WHMCS root .htaccess in sync for you. Two formats are available:

1. With .html

Internal and PHP pages are served at /about.html, /test.html, etc. The rewrite block first serves generated PHP files at the pretty .html path, then routes remaining .html slugs to index.php?m=page&display=<slug>.

2. Without .html (extensionless)

Pages are served at clean extensionless URLs such as /about and /test. The block serves generated PHP files first (excluding core WHMCS friendly URL routes like /knowledgebase, /announcements, /download, /store, /cart, /contact and /index.php) so the module never hijacks core pages or causes redirect loops, then routes remaining slugs to the internal-page controller.

Automatic .htaccess management

On every settings save, the module:

  1. Reads the current WHMCS root .htaccess.
  2. Removes any existing Pages Manager SEO fenced block (marked ### BEGIN - Pages Manager SEO / ### END - Pages Manager SEO).
  3. Also removes the legacy unfenced plain-rules block that earlier versions or manual edits may have added.
  4. Writes the block matching the active format before the WHMCS-managed rewrite rules, with the PHP-file route served first.

Switching format, disabling SEO, or re-saving simply replaces or removes the block — the file never accumulates duplicate or stale rules.

File must be writable — if the module cannot write .htaccess, a warning is shown and you can insert the rules manually (the built-in block text is displayed in the help); otherwise pretty URLs won’t resolve.

Disqus

  • Set your Disqus shortname in Settings.
  • Enable the Comments option on a page to show the Disqus thread for that page.
  • The thread is keyed to the page slug, so it survives page title edits.

Translation languages

The Available Languages multi-select controls which languages are offered on the Internal Page editor’s translation tabs. Translations are stored per page and auto-selected based on the visitor’s WHMCS language.
