WHMCS v9.1.0 Beta is here, introducing major updates including PHP 8.4 support, a requirement for ionCube Loader v15.0.0, new REST API v2 checkout endpoints, configurable invoice immutability, and Stripe Dynamic Payments migration tools.
With every major WHMCS release, our top priority is ensuring that your production environment remains stable, secure, and fully functional. Here is a status update on how we are preparing our modules for this release.
What We Are Working On
-
PHP 8.4 Runtime Testing: We are inspecting and refactoring core module codebase routines to ensure zero deprecated warnings or breaking changes under PHP 8.4.
-
ionCube Loader v15.0.0 Encoding: Because WHMCS v9.1.0 requires ionCube Loader 15, we are compiling updated builds to match the target environment seamlessly.
-
REST API v2 & Core Integration Checks: We are reviewing hooks, admin navigation hooks (including compatibility with the new Iris admin preview), and checkout workflow hooks to prevent any operational friction.
-
Backward Compatibility: Ensuring our modules maintain multi-version compatibility across older PHP versions (PHP 8.2) and existing WHMCS installations.
Recommendations for Store Owners & System Admins
-
Keep Production on Stable Releases: Do not deploy WHMCS v9.1.0 Beta on active production environments. Keep it confined to isolated staging setups for preliminary testing.
-
Upgrade ionCube Loader First: Before upgrading your staging environment to WHMCS 9.1, make sure your server environment is upgraded to ionCube Loader 15.0.0+.
-
Wait for Official Compatibility Releases: We will release updated version tags and detailed release notes for each of our modules as WHMCS approaches General Availability (GA).
What’s Next?
We are currently running end-to-end integration tests in staging setups. As individual module updates pass QA, they will be made available in your client area dashboard with detailed changelogs.
